Karl Haendel

Karl Haendel (b. 1976 New York) received a BA from Brown University in 1998 and an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2003. He also studied at the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program in New York, and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan, Maine.  Selected exhibitions include the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo; and the Serpentine Gallery, London. He was the subject of a one person exhibition at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, in 2006. In 2004 he was a recipient of the Penny McCall Foundation Award. He is represented by Anna Helwing Gallery in Los Angeles and Harris Lieberman in New York. Karl Haendel lives and works in Los Angeles.
